Hand engraving is a delicate art. Each master engraver has their own style. It takes a great deal of time, practice, and patience to acquire the necessary dexterity to deal with the hardness of the metal.

However, engraving is only the final step; meticulous tracing of the design is essential for a successful engraving. Each bead is traced first with a pencil and then with a fine metal point. The tracing is assessed visually, as are the placement and spacing between each motif within the bead's workspace. It is then that the magic happens with the perfectly sharpened graver, which the engraver uses to create the finished piece.
